Students for Community Safety (SCS)

Residential Security Program

As a three-time recipient of the Student Employer of the Year award, the Residential Security Program is committed to providing learning and leadership opportunities for our staff and quality service for our students. Students who reside in residence halls are vital to the successful operation of the RSP. As members of our community, student residents are DPS's eyes and ears in recognizing and reporting suspicious, illegal, or unauthorized activity in residence halls.

Student employees make up the majority of the RSP, serving as Residential Security Aides (RSAs). RSAs are stationed at the main entrances of residence halls daily from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The primary responsibility of the RSA is to monitor and control access to residence halls by checking the identification of all persons entering the residence halls, and signing in visitors and guests who are escorted by a hall resident.

Don't Walk Alone – Campus Escort Service

Walking Escorts are provided for students, staff, and faculty on Main Campus from academic buildings to residence halls or parking facilities, and vice versa. The program operates from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. throughout the academic year. To request an escort, call 315-443-2224.

Shuttle-U-Home (SU Home)

Shuttle-U-Home provides free transportation from campus for students, faculty, and staff who reside off campus within a designated geographic area. The shuttle runs daily from 8:15 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. during the academic year. To use the shuttle, sign up in the Students for Community Safety office in Watson Hall.
