Residential Security Program

The Residential Secuity Program (RSP) staffs Residential Security Aides (RSAs) in every campus residence hall on North and South campus. RSAs are stationed at the access doors at all halls between the hours of 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., with 24-hour coverage at Brewster, Boland, and Brockway Halls.

The primary responsibility of the RSA is to monitor and control access to residence halls by checking the identification of all persons entering the residence halls, and signing in visitors and guests who are escorted by a hall resident. RSAs control access to the halls, ensuring that only residents and staff are permitted access to the hall during the restricted hours.

RSAs serve as the eyes and ears of the Department of Public Safety while working, and are responsible for documenting and reporting all incidents they observe while in the hall. During their shifts. SCS program supervisors and student supervisors, as well as regular DPS officers on patrol will address any needs that arise at the residence halls.

In addition to SCS staff and DPS officers, students who reside in residence halls are vital to the successful operation of the RSP. As members of our community, student residents are DPS's eyes and ears in recognizing and reporting suspicious, illegal, or unauthorized activity in residence halls.
