Arrests Made in Armed Robbery Case

February 12, 2006 (Date Issued: 2/12/06; DPS #2006-00005365 / SPD #2006-142828)

WHEN: Saturday night / Sunday morning, 2/12/06 , around midnight

WHERE: Ackerman Avenue near Stratford Street

HOW: a male Lemoyne College student on foot was approached by two men who threatened him with a knife and a gun. The men stole his money and cell phone and ran southward. Shortly before the incident, one suspect had made comments to a female SU student walking several feet ahead of the victim. Neither student was hurt. The students went to Shaw Hall and notified DPS. Within minutes, DPS apprehended one suspect near Lancaster Market and SPD discovered that the second one was at a neighborhood residence. It was learned that the firearm was a BB gun. Both suspects were arrested.

Suspect #1: male; white; approx. 5’6” tall; stocky build; blonde hair; scraggly beard; black jacket; had knife

Suspect #2: male; white; approx. 5’10” tall; slim build; black jacket w/ NY Knicks logo; carried silver & black BB gun.

The students’ quick notification and assistance in this investigation enabled DPS and SPD to rapidly locate and arrest the suspects. The suspects are being held for arraignment.
