Syracuse University Department of Public Safety Chief Anthony Callisto, Jr. was elected as President for the Central New York Association of Chiefs of Police (CNYACOP) on November 2, 2009. CNYACOP's membership is comprised of law enforcement executives from police departments, sheriff's offices and campus law enforcement from eight counties in the Central New York area. The association supports law enforcement in the region through development and delivery of training for chiefs, command officers and supervisors, as well as working on legislative issues, counter-terrorism planning and training, inter-agency coordination and interaction with the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police. The association also acts as an advisory group to the Central New York Regional Police Academy at Onondaga Community College.
Chief Callisto is the first campus/university law enforcement executive ever elected to the position and will serve as President for 2010.
